Hello! This is my first ever blog post on my website. I have always dreamed of opening a website and having a blog, and I am so thrilled that I am finally putting my dreams into action! But first, let me introduce myself a little....
My name is Alisha, I am a 13 year old emerging artist and I love creating and sharing my creations with you.
Ever since I could possibly remember, I loved creating! I was forever drawing, painting, crafting and learning.
From the age of 2-8 I was obsessed with - boxes! I would collect boxes all sorts of shapes and sizes. I would create doll houses, mail boxes, telephones, everything and anything I wanted.
After that I started drawing a lot. Mostly animals, household objects and people. I followed lots of youtube tutorials and some of my friends started to teach me manga.
I, now, personally do not like creating in those types of styles but I didn't know anything else! Of course my drawings back then were very basic - not at ALL to what I love to make now! But I enjoyed drawing them and I suppose a lot of that time I spent drawing helps me with my art nowadays.
When I finished Grade 3, I left school and my mum started homeschooling my siblings and I. We would go every second week to a homeschooling group, where homeschoolers would meet up. Over there one of the classes was an art class! The teacher there had such a fun, happy, playful, loose and different way of teaching. She introduced me to an art form i have never heard of before -
MIXED MEDIA
I fell in Love! I also heard that this art teacher had classes at her house and some friends took me to her house to join their class.
Oh a whole world of possibilities was opened to me that morning! I had no idea such an amazing thing existed! And the supplies. Oh, the art supplies! Acrylic ink, alcohol ink, watercolour ink, alcohol markers, paint pens, acrylic paint, watercolour tubes, watercolour pans, oil paints... I could go on and on. All of these combined together, no rules, just PLAY!
And since then I went to her classes every week that I could. Slowly I made a little space for me in the garage I call my 'art space' (although its growing bigger and bigger) and my art supply collection is rapidly growing too! I am a sucker for good supplies.
My parents and I invest into online art courses as well and I learn a lot from a the courses I tale by my favourite artists. Some of my favourite artists are probably Laly Mille, Jane Davenport, Tamara Laporte (a.k.a Willowing) e.t.c
I also started an instagram account! I post very regulary, and I now have a wonderful community of like minded people there following me, leaving loving comments, tips, beautiful DM's and inspiring me!
